Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers- Good Morning Little School Girl
I'm assuming Rod Piazza is no relation to former Mets/Dodgers catcher Mike Piazza, but ya never know. I didn't know Rod Piazza existed five minutes ago, but he just affected this blog in two ways...
1. I started today's music with his version of GMLSG
2. Its made me think of one of the best NY Mets of all time, which leads me to this song from the "Juno" soundtrack by Belle and Sebastian. It even makes a quick reference to the rumor that Mike Piazza is a homosexual... I have no idea if he is, and he always denied it (to the point of marrying a Playboy Playmate)... but it was whispered about back in the day.
This song always reminds me of the Kinks.

A few quick notes before I continue.
Today's show might not be as long as usual, so if I only do 2 or 3 parts, or don't play as many songs, or not as chatty in my introductions, I hope you're not mad at me. Things have been kind of busy this week, and I have the Relay For Life fundraiser in Henrietta for the American Cancer Society tonight.... all night!!! My mind is kind of on that.
As I said last week The Relay For Life charity walk is important to me... so much so that I won't be seeing Burt Ward (Robin from the Batman TV show) or The Batmobile at Frontier Field tonight at the Red Wings game. I also won't get to see George Thorogood and the Destroyers for free at the Jazz Fest tonight. I hope you do one of those two things and think of me. If you'd like to donate to my fundraising efforts, or at least learn about what I'm doing, click HERE.
A huge thank you to those of you that already donated.
Also, next weekend is 4th of July weekend, and Susan and I are going on vacation Friday morning, so I'll be taking next Saturday off. I'll be back with more tunes on July 12th.
Here's a little "Madison Blues" for those of you going to see Lonesome George and the Destroyers.
And something from Pete Townsend, Roger Daltrey, John Entwistle, and Keith Moon to get me ready for the Relay for Life. Did you know that Animal from The Muppets is based on Moon?
