Kyle Slyter, 18, is a student at the North Rose-Wolcott High School. He was overheard talking about hunting and having a 12 gauge shotgun in his vehicle.
The firearm and ammunition were recovered and secured by the school resource officer.
Possessing a weapon on school property is a crime.
Slyter was charged with criminal possession of a weapon on school grounds.
