Pittsford Officials Planning Farewell Ceremony For Tree

Pittsford officials are planning a farewell on Monday, April 23 for a tree. According to WHEC, The town’s iconic 200-year-old copper beech tree has to be cut down because of a fungus. The tree is in Copper Beech Park on State Street. There will be a public ceremony to commemorate the tree and say goodbye. The ceremony was scheduled for Monday at 6:00 pm. The tree has  already been cloned. Plus, The Pittsford Garden Club is considering turning wood from the tree into mementos.  The city is also planning to scour the tree with cameras to immortalize any initials carved into the bark by generations of young people.
