A Livingston County man has pleaded guilty to felony assault and reckless assault charges for the brutal beating of his two-month-old son.
Brock Hyde, of Nunda, has prior burglary, robbery and assault convictions and was on parole at the time of the beating last fall. The baby suffered a fractured skull, swelling in his brain, 11 broken ribs and a broken foot. The child was placed in foster care. It's not clear if he has permanent brain damage.
Under the plea deal, Hyde won't be sentenced as a persistent felon. He faces between 5 and 14 years behind bars.
