Livingston Co. Correction Officer Charged with Accepting Bribes

A corrections officer at the Livingston Co. Correctional Facility is finding himself on the other side of the law after allegedly accepting bribes from an inmate in exchange for drugs.

New York State Police along with the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision arrested 38-year-old Raul Santiago last week, and charged him with third degree bribe receiving, promoting prison contraband, and official misconduct. Authorities say Santiago was being paid by an inmate to bring Synthetic Marijuana, also known as K2, into the prison.

State Police apprehended Santiago as he reported for his overnight shift on Friday, June 8.

Santiago was arraigned and sent to the Livingston County jail in lieu of $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond. The investigation is continuing.
