A lesbian couple claims they were kicked out of an Uber vehicle after kissing.
“Kissing is not illegal,” one of the women tells the driver in an incident caught on video and posted online.
Alex Iovine and Emma Pichl claim they only exchanged a small peck when the driver pulled over in Brooklyn and forced them out of the vehicle. The incident happened Saturday night as the couple was traveling to a bar in the East Village.
“You don’t do that here in the car,” the driver is heard saying in the video.
“Sir, why are we not allowed to kiss in an Uber?” one of the women asks.
The driver responded that it was “disrespectful,” without elaborating.
“I don’t want to argue with you. Just get out of my car. Just get out of my car,” the driver said.
At one point the driver tried to block one of the women from recording the incident, causing the second woman to yell at the driver for touching the phone.
“We’re taking video of you. I’m reporting you. You’re going to get fired,” the woman said.
“I don’t care,” the driver responded.
The women threaten to call police, before deciding to call Uber instead to report the driver. Uber said it’s investigating the incident.
