A man from Wayne County, who worked as a former Boy Scouts employee in Seneca County, is facing child pornography charges.
Federal authorities arrested 34-year-old Russell Ruth and charged him with possession of child pornography.
Federal prosecutors say back in March, Yahoo! reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that a subscriber had uploaded suspected child pornography files to a Yahoo! server. The center contacted law enforcement officers who traced the files to an email address belonging to Ruth.
In June, a search warrant was executed at Ruth’s home in Lyons, where investigators found hundreds of images and videos of child pornography involving boys, on Ruth’s cell phone and laptop.
Authorities say Ruth was employed by the Boy Scouts of America in the Ovid, NY area.
