Newspapers generally have multiple levels of checks and balances before something goes to print. But somehow no one thought to point out that naming their publication "The Uranus Examiner" might cause some ridicule. The small Missouri town newspaper's launch was announced on Wednesday. Editor Natalie Sanders said she wanted to start a "fun" paper that includes local news and promotes the tourist town of Uranus, which is pronounced like every schoolboy would. However the neighboring town's mayor isn't exactly on board, believing that by choosing a name based on "innuendo," the newspaper will bring "public ridicule." Meanwhile Uranus does recognize the notoriety it receives from the name and features such tourist traps as a fudge shop and the world's largest belt buckle.
