Is Taking A Month Off From Alcohol Worth It?

You may have heard about Sober September or Dry January. Across the pond in the UK, there's a campaign to Go Sober In October. But is giving up booze for a month worth doing? According to a study in the medical journal The Lancet, there is no safe level of alcohol consumption, so the benefits exist. Scientists from University College London and the Royal Free Hospital looked at those who went dry in July because many people try acting healthy at the start of the year, skewing the results. They found that participants lost weight, while some claimed they "felt like a new person." In the longer term, those who are heavy drinkers consumed 70% less than before they started the one-month test.
