A member of the Rochester Police Department is recovering after accidentally shooting himself in the hand. According to Chief Mark Simmons, the officer was wrapping up his shift Saturday night when he discharged his personal handgun in the police station locker room. The officer is a two-year veteran with the RPD. A preliminary investigation reveals the officer was trying to put his gun in the holster when it went off.Police will continue to investigate the incident.
