A Hilton man died in a snowmobile crash on Sunday afternoon in the Town of Webb, Herkimer County in the Adirondacks. Police say Larry DeMarte, 72, failed to negotiate a curve and was ejected from the snowmobile into a ravine and creek. According to police the snowmobile rolled on top of DeMarte. He was trapped under the snowmobile and water until people he was riding with could get to him. Members of DeMarte's riding group attempted CPR. Police believe the cause of the crash was due to speed.
