Rush-Henrietta Student Arrested For Making Threat To School

A Rush-Henrietta student has been arrested by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office after allegedly making online treats about shooting up a school.

19-year-old Shamir Broyld is in custody and charged with Making A Terrorist Threat which is a Class-D Felony.

MONROE COUNTY SHERIFF’S INVESTIGATORS ARREST RUSH-HENRIETTA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT FOR MAKING A TERRORISTIC THREAT AGAINST A SCHOOL

Shamir Broyld in MCSO Custody and Receiving Intervention and Services

Henrietta, N.Y. (June 12, 2019) – On today’s date, June 12, 2019 at 12:30 p.m., upon further investigation into a social media post regarding a Rush-Henrietta Central School District student, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office arrested and charged Shamir Broyld, 19, Henrietta, with Making a Terroristic Threat (Class-D Felony). Mr. Broyld made a threat on social media alleging he had thoughts about shooting up a school. Thanks to several citizens alerting authorities to the threat, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to Mr. Broyld’s home and conducted a thorough investigation that included conversations with Broyld’s family. The investigation also revealed Mr. Broyld did not have access to weapons.

Mr. Broyld was not present at Rush-Henrietta High School today, as he was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital last evening, June 11, 2019, for evaluation. At no time were students, faculty or staff believed to be in any danger. As an extra precaution, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office provided a presence at both Rush-Henrietta High School and the Webster Learning Center.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Rush-Henrietta Central School District, is providing the proper intervention to ensure Mr. Broyld receives the wrap around services that he requires and needs. Mr. Broyld’s family, the school district, and the criminal justice system are all involved in Mr. Broyld’s case to manage any potential threat.

Mr. Broyld was arraigned at Henrietta Town Court on today’s date at 3:30 p.m. and remanded to the Monroe County Jail on $2,500 cash bail/$25,000 bond.
