Arrest Made in Fatal Hit-and-Run Police Say Suspect Hid Evidence

Police have announced an arrest in connection to a fatal hit-and-run in Seneca County. On Tuesday, Police were called to the area of East Main Street and Thurber Drive in Waterloo, where they found a passerby performing CPR on a man. Investigators say Isaiah McKoy, 30, of Waterloo, was hit by a vehicle traveling westbound on State Route 5. They say the driver left the scene without reporting the incident. Police say Samuel J. Eckert, 30, abandoned the vehicle involved in the accident along with with his identification.Eckert is charged with leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident, tampering with evidence, aggravated unlicensed operation and failure to use designated lane. Police say there was also a passenger in the vehicle at the time. Anyone with further information on the incident is asked to call the Waterloo Police Department at (315) 539-2022.
