Sweden, NY -- A hunter who accidently shot and wounded a neighbor in the Town of Sweden has been arrested on a second-degree assault charge.
The Sheriff's Office says Brett Blackburn, 42, shot Robert Williams while hunting for coyotes around 6:30 Sunday night. Blackburn was hunting with his son on his property at 6142 Lake Road when deputies say he thought he saw the eyes of a coyote and fired his rifle. The shot struck Williams in the abdomen. Blackburn give him first aid while his son called 9-1-1.
Williams is at Strong hospital.
Blackburn was arraigned Sunday night and is due back in Town Court Friday afternoon.
