A combat veteran's support dog aboard a Delta flight mauled the face of another unlucky passenger at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

A passenger by the name of Bridget Maddox-Peoples said:

"The gentleman’s face was completely bloody, blood in his eyes, cheeks, nose, his mouth, his shirt was covered in blood."

Maddox-Peoples says the dog was sitting on his owners lap in the middle seat when it had attacked the other passenger sitting next to the window. The victim was removed from the flight to receive medical attention. His condition is not known.

The flight crew reportedly saw the owner wheeping while holding his dog and saying:

"I know they're going to put him (the dog) down."

Delta says the owner and his dog were put on a later flight, only this time, the dog was in a kennel.
