"Mad Dog" Sullivan, former hitman, dead in prison

Joseph "Mad Dog" Sullivan has died in prison.

"Mad Dog" infamously escaped from Attica Correctional Facility and carried out a hit for the mob in Irondequoit.

Sullivan was pronounced dead at 78 from unknown causes June 9th. Sullivan was serving an 87-years to life sentence. 

He was convicted of eight counts of 2nd degree murder, two counts of 1st degree robbery and several other crimes.

He's infamous as the only person to escape Attica, in 1971, but was recaptured several weeks later.

Sullivan shot and killed John Fiorina in 1981. Fiorina was a Teamsters leader who was suspected of having mob ties.
