13 WHAM - "A Rochester man is facing multiple charges, including aggravated attempted murder, after police say he stabbed a Rochester Police officer in her bullet-resistant vest Thursday night.

Police responded to a call on Louise Street around 7:50 p.m. for the report of people stabbed.

Officers who arrived on scene found two victims outside the home. One of the victims had been stabbed, the other was injured from jumping out of a window to escape the suspect who had a knife.

Court paperwork states the victim outside the house had a three-inch cut across his abdomen from a butcher knife.

Two others people were seen leaning out of a window, screaming that they were locked in and could not get out. They added that someone was trying to break in and had a knife.

Multiple officers forcibly entered the house to help the people inside. Once inside, Officer Amber Grosch, opened a door and was confronted by 47-year-old Leon Roach who lunged at her forcefully while swinging a knife. Officer Grosch was struck by the knife on her chest, but it did not penetrate her bullet-resistant vest.

She sustained an injury to her left hand as a result of the suspect’s actions. She was taken to the hospital where she was treated and released.

Officer Grosch, who is 26 and has been on the force less than a year, was injured on her left hand and was taken to the hospital. She was treated and released.

Roach was taken into custody by officers and is charged with attempted aggravated murder for attempting to stab Officer Grosch. He is also charged with assault 2nd for stabbing the victim at the Louise Street home before police arrived. Additional charges are possible."
