WHEC - "Police say a man and woman were shot and killed in a backyard in Fairport Wednesday morning
Fairport Police and the Monroe County Sheriff's Department were called to a home on Williamsburg Drive shortly before 6 a.m. A neighbor told our crew they heard gunshots sometime after 5 Wednesday morning.
Police say John Beilman shot his 27-year-old daughter, Nicole, and then shot and killed himself. According to police, Nicole suffered from a neurological disorder and was confined to a wheelchair. The police chief says the daughter was "100 percent reliant on the care of her parents."
Police say John Beilman had no arrest record. Officers say Beilman used a 12-gauge shotgun to commit the murder.
"Investigators say John Beilman's wife was inside the house and did not hear the gunshots. She learned her husband and daughter were killed when police arrived.
"This was a very, very difficult crime scene for us," Chief Sam Farina said. "Our sympathies go out to the family during this very difficult time."
Police say their investigation is still piecing things together and the chief couldn't elaborate on a motive for the act of violence. Police told reporters John Beilman left a note, but it didn't explain his actions.
"[The note] was in essence a goodbye note [to his wife]," the chief explains."
