13 WHAM - "A Canandaigua woman is facing a charge of criminally negligent homicide after the overdose death of a 19-year-old man last year.
Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies say Megan Ward, 19, was charged after a year-long investigation."
"Deputies responded to the Clifton Springs Emergency Room on September 26, 2016 after a man who had been brought to the hospital by private vehicle was declared deceased. Investigators determined the man died of a drug overdose.
Investigators say Ward drove the man to the hospital. They say they later determined Ward assisted in obtaining the drugs which the man overdosed on, and that Ward did not attempt to find help for a significant amount of time when the man showed signs of medical distress.
Ward reportedly drove the victim to the Clifton Springs Emergency Room from a location in northern Wayne County. During the trip, the man reportedly went unconscious and eventually stopped breathing. Despite this, deputies said Ward did not call 911, nor did she try to drive to a closer medical facility.
Ward was arraigned in Hopewell Town Court and remanded to the Ontario County Jail without bail. She is due back in court on November 14."
