TheDailyNews - "The driver of a pickup truck that was hit by a train Tuesday night was high on drugs at the time, Genesee County sheriff’s deputies said.
Donald R. Read, 46, of Bergen was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, unlawful possession of marijuana, moving from a lane unsafely and trespassing.
The charges came after an investigation into the 6:50 p.m. crash on CSX railroad tracks just north of Buffalo Street Road.
Read told deputies that he fell asleep, causing Ford F250 pickup truck to go off the north side of the road and down an embankment. The truck continued across both the south and northbound set of tracks before stopping.
Both Read and a passenger, Frank L. Morrison, 36, of Bergen were able to get out of the truck before it was hit by an eastbound train. The train hit the rear of the truck.
Morrison suffered minor injuries and was taken to Unity Hospital in Rochester.
Read was not injured.
Sgt. Jason Saile said an investigation is continuing and more charges are pending.
Bergen volunteer firefighters and CSX officials assisted deputies at the scene."
