Rochester Man Stole Over $8K in Items from Home Depot in Gates

13 WHAM - "The arrest of a Rochester man led to the arrest of four other people involved in a conspiracy to steal thousands of dollars of items from a Gates store.

Gates Police said they arrested 31-year-old Samuel Viele and charged him with felony grand larceny 3rd and conspiracy 5th.

Court paperwork states that over the course of three months, Viele conspired with Home Depot associates at the Buffalo Road store in Gates to steal more than $8,800 worth of tools and products.

Police say Viele conspired with 20-year-old Mark Belknap, 26-year-old Orlando Inostroza, James Maher and Michael Bell to steal the items. All four of the alleged co-conspirators were associates at the Home Depot store.

After investigators served a search warrant at Viele's house, they found approximately $30,000 worth of stolen merchandise from the store.

A Gates Police investigator said the allegations were backed up by a manager at the Home Depot and recorded surveillance video, according to court documents.

Belknap and Inostroza were each charged with felony grand larceny 3rd and conspiracy 5th.

Maher and Bell were each charged with petit larceny and conspiracy 6th."
