Wheatland-Chili Teacher Dies After Hit & Run

13 WHAM - "A teacher for Wheatland-Chili High School has died after serious injuries after being involved in a hit & run accident near the University of Rochester Thursday morning.

Rochester police said a woman was crossing Elmwood Avenue near Wilson Boulevard just before 6 a.m. when she was struck by a car.

The woman was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries. She later died from those injuries.

Family members have identified the woman as 38-year-old Jill Skivington Jackett, an English teacher at Wheatland-Chili High School. Skivington Jackett taught for ten years at Wheatland-Chili, which was also her alma mater. She also served as a coach for the cross-country team and directed the musical.

She was an avid runner, twice winning the Rochester Marathon. She had just completed the New York City Marathon a few weeks ago.

That car continued driving eastbound on Elmwood without stopping, according to police.

All police were able to say about the car is that it's dark in color."
