Rochester Man Threatened Woman with Illegal Gun

WHEC - A Rochester man is now facing federal charges after a domestic incident involving a gun prosecutors say he shouldn't have had.

According to U.S. Attorney's Office, 49-year-old Joseph Cavico was arrested on December 15 following an incident involving a woman.

Police say they were called to a residence for a report of a domestic dispute. When they got to the home, police say they found Cavico on top of the victim with a gun to his side.

Prosecutors say Cavico, a three-time felon, isn't allowed to have a firearm. Officers also say the serial number on the weapon had been removed as well. On top of that, a witness also told police that Cavico threatened to kill the woman and her family.

Cavico is now facing charges of being a felon-in-possession of a firearm and possessing a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

He faces up to ten years in prison and a fine for the incident. Cavico also faces other charges in Le Roy."
