DandC - "A Greece man is accused of detonating an improvised explosive device in his backyard.

Justin Gibbs, 37, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child after he was taken into custody Saturday at his home at 56 Ridgewood Road, Greece police announced.

"Gibbs's arrest is the result of our investigation into dangerous materials found in his home," police said in a release. No one was hurt during the incident.

He was arraigned in Greece Town Court and remanded to the Monroe County Jail in lieu of $200,000 cash bail or $400,000 bond.

Police allege Gibbs possessed and detonated a pipe bomb in his backyard with a minor child present at the time of the detonation.

"This is not a domestic violence-related incident," police said. Police didn't reveal how they were alerted to the incident. Officers sent out their initial email about the incident about 1 p.m.

Initially, Greece police said officers were "investigating the report of potentially hazardous materials located inside of a home on Ridgewood Road."

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office's hazardous device disposal team and the Ridge Road Fire Department assisted during the incident.

During the incident, police said, "There is no danger to the public."

Ridgewood Road, near West Ridge Road, was closed down for multiple hours during the investigation."
