On Wednesday evening at 6:50 p.m, police and firefighters were called to St. Rt. 20A in Perry for the report of a car that had driven into a pond.
82 y/o George Reed was trapped inside the car that was taking on water.
When Wyoming County Sheriff's deputy John Button and Perry Fire Department First Lt. Dakota Spink arrived on scene, they saw the car submerged.
Before the car went under, both jumped into the water and attached toe rope to a rear tire, then hooked it up to a fire truck and pulled the vehicle back up. They saved Reed's life.
Reed says he crashed into the pond because of a reaction to another uninvolved vehicle.
