Baseball Is Fun!

What better way to forget my sorrows of Duke losing to Kansas than to dive in some baseball?

Opening Day is on Thursday March 29th (the earliest opening day in league history) but baseball fans got a treat on Tuesday with a couple of really fun moments.

1) Mic'd Up Mookie Betts

Red Sox right fielder Mookie Betts was mic'd up during Tuesday afternoon's game against the Cubs.  While chatting with the ESPN broadcast crew, Kris Bryant smashed one his way and Betts had a tremendous one liner.

2) Vlad Guerrero Jr. Delivers In Montreal

For the fifth year in a row, the Toronto Blue Jays played a mini-series at Olympic Stadium in Montreal, the home of the Expos before they shipped off to Washington D.C. in 2004.

There was a special connection for the games this year though as the Blue Jays top prospect is a 19-year-old by the name of Vladimir Guerrero Jr., the son of all-time Expo great Vladimir Guerrero Sr.

It was a scoreless game with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th against St. Louis, when Vladimir Jr. came to the plate (wearing his father's #27) and ended the game with one swing.  A truly special & nostalgic moment for baseball fans in Montreal.

And it appears that his father was there to watch the moment happen as well.

Blue Jays fans are going to have a wait a little bit for more Vlad Jr. though, as he will be starting the season in the minor leagues.
