Monroe County Sheriff Todd Baxter says the Sweden woman suspected of killing her 7-year-old son last night at a home in the Town of Sweden, had twice called authorities last month because of her own mental health. The second time, March 8, led to her placement at Rochester General Hospital until March 26.
Hanane Mouhib is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Abraham Cardenas. Charging documents say the boy was decapitated by stab wounds from a kitchen knife.
Sheriff Baxter says Mouhib refused to surrender the knife, and had to be taken into custody with the use of a Taser and pepper spray. District Attorney Sandra Doorley says she is being held without bail.
The boy was a first grader at Barclay Elementary School in Brockport. Brockport Superintendent Lesli Myers says the district is saddened by the loss. The district will have a counseling team ready to greet students and staff on Monday.
