One Man Killed in Officer-Involved Shooting in Genesee County

One person is dead after an officer-involved shooting in the town of Pembroke in Genesee County. 

According to Genesee County Undersheriff Greg Walker deputies were called around 11 p.m. Wednesday night for a report of shots fired inside and outside the Log Cabin Restaurant on Gilmore Road. 

Undersheriff Walker said the first deputy to the scene made contact with the suspect in the parking lot. 

61-year-old Keith Kent of Albion, allegedly pointed a handgun at the deputy. The deputy then shot and killed Kent. 

There were seven people inside the restaurant at the time. No one was injured. This is the first officer-involved shooting in over 40 years in Genesee County.
