Unless you're Yosemite Sam of Looney Tunes fame, it's probably a really bad idea to use a certain southern expression.
A broadcaster is learning that lesson the hard way. Oklahoma City Thunder play-by-play announcer Brian Davis is under fire for using a racially charged term on Wednesday while describing triple-double record holder Russell Westbrook, saying the point guard was "out of his cotton-picking mind."
Anyone with an ounce of historical context of the USA could tell you why that's a bad idea.
Davis has been with Fox Sports Oklahoma for eight seasons, calling games for the Thunder. And while Fox is saying he "didn’t appear to use the phrase maliciously", he's angered many on Twitter.
Do you think Davis should be fired for using this expression?
