A boy is on life support at Upstate Medical Center after he was severely beaten by his mother and stepfather in Seneca Falls.
Donald and Alison Bovio, both 38, were arrested and charged with first-degree assault.
On May 12, Seneca Falls Police were called to a report of a child who had fallen down the stairs.
Upstate Medical Center says the boy's injuries were not consistent with a fall.
Both Alison and Donald face up to 25 years in state prison if convicted.
Donald also has an extensive criminal past.
Additional charges pending.
Both arraigned and remanded to the Seneca County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 cash bail each.
