Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly will be given the Jimmy V Award for perseverance at next month’s ESPY Awards in Los Angeles. The Jimmy V Award is annually given to "a deserving member of the sporting world who has overcome great obstacles through perseverance and determination." Kelly, 58, is recovering from surgery to remove oral cancer and reconstruct his upper jaw. Kelly first had surgery to remove squamous-cell carcinoma found in his jaw in 2013. He underwent chemotherapy in 2014 when the cancer returned in his sinus.
