Federal Prosecutors Release Details on Charlie Tan Case

We are learning more information about the new case against Charlie Tan. According to court papers, Tan persuaded his friend, Whitney Knickerbocker, to buy him a shotgun because he wanted to use it for hunting. Tan was charged with killing his father with the gun. That charge was dropped after a hung jury. Tan will face trial later this month on federal gun charges. Video from a Walmart in Cortland shows Tan and Knickerbocker buying the shotgun in February 2015. The paperwork says Tan gave Knickerbocker a case of beer in exchange. Tan was unable to buy the gun because he is a Canadian citizen.
