Rochester Man Accused of Setting Church on Fire

A Rochester man is accused of setting fire to a church last month. Police said Chad Edwards Welch, 21, started a fire at the Charity Bible Church on Avenue D. Police said Welch started the fire on the front door of the church around 5:35 p.m. on June 2. Rochester Fire investigators said the fire had been set with ignitable liquids to the church. The fire was put out with minimal damage to the building. Welch was charged with third-degree arson and is in the Monroe County Jail.
