Police Investigate Report of Stranger Approaching Kids

Police in Irondequoit are investigating an alleged incident in which someone reportedly offered a ride to two children. A letter was sent to families of children enrolled in Irondequoit’s Playground Program. According to a notice, a person in a vehicle approached two campers and offered them a ride home on July 18. The Bureau of Recreation is asking parents to make sure children travel with a friend or in groups and never accept an offer from a stranger. Parents should also tell children, if someone follows them, to go the opposite way, or take a route which a car can’t travel.
