Woman Charged in Hit-and-Run Was Arrested for DWI 30 Minutes Later

Police said the woman charged in a fatal hit-and-run accident at Darien Lake amusement park was arrested on DWI later that morning. Jennifer Serrano, 48, is charged with 2nd degree vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of a personal injury incident. Investigators said Serrano struck and killed Connor Lynskey, 18, of Hinckley, which is near Utica. Lynskey was apparently walking on the shoulder of Sumner Road with a group of friends around 12:30 am Saturday when he apparently ran off to catch up to another friend. Deputies said his friends contacted police when Lynskey never showed up to their campsite at Darien Lake.  Investigators said Serrano had been charged with DWI on Alleghany Road around 1 a.m. after nearly running her car into a Genesee County Sheriff's patrol vehicle - 30 minutes after she is alleged to have hit Lynskey with her vehicle. Deputies were not aware of the hit-and-run at that time. She was sent to the Genesee County Jail on $1,000 bail, which she posted a few hours later and was released. Investigators got a tip about Serrano and seized the vehicle at a family member's house in Amherst, NY on Sunday morning. Serrano is from Irving, New York.
