Buffalo Bills Cornerback Retires at Half-Time

Buffalo Bills cornerback Vontae Davis retired at halftime Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers. Davis, a two-time Pro Bowl cornerback, did not stick around for the team’s 31-20 loss. He also apologized to his teammates, saying he “meant no disrespect,” but decided on the field that he “didn’t feel right.” Davis signed a one-year $5 million deal with the Bills in the offseason. When Davis signed, $3.5 million of his single-year pay was fully guaranteed; $1.5 million of his signing bonus and $2 million of his $2.25 million base salary. He had spent six years with the Miami Dolphins and three years with the Indianapolis Colts before then. Sunday was his first game with Buffalo.
