The Spiders Are Taking Over

Take a look at the shorelines of an island in the Aitoliko lagoon in western Greece where the tetragnatha species of spiders have taken over. It's a common occurrence and environmentalists have assured the locals there is no need to worry.

“This phenomenon occurs every three or four years,” Yiannis Selimas, director of the body that manages the lagoon, told Kathimerini. “This time the intensity is unprecedented,” he said.
