A Wayne County man is facing charges of assault after allegedly abusing his girlfriend. Investigators said Walter Clark, 38, allegedly pushed his girlfriend and slammed her to the ground Saturday morning. Clark, of Wolcott, also allegedly dragged her and punched her in the face and body. Police said people nearby could hear the woman screaming for help. She sustained fractures to her face and ribs, a collapsed lung and several lacerations that required stitches. She was hospitalized and is still undergoing treatment for her injuries. Clark turned himself into the police on Monday and was charged with felony assault in the second degree. He is being held in the Wayne County Jail.
