Genesee County Sheriff's deputies were called to the Village of Alexander early Saturday morning around 12:40 a.m. (because obviously nothing good happens after midnight) for the report of a people stealing from cars.
Deputies eventually located the couple, Mitchell Merrill (33) and Haley Merrill (26) both from East Main Street in Batavia.
Deputies found credit cards and other personal property on the Merrill's which had been reported stolen from multiple vehicles in the village.
Both are charged with multiple counts of criminal possession of stolen property. Mitchell is being held without bail, Haley is being held on $5,000 cash bail.
