Wyoming County Deputy Apologizes For Killing Perry Man

The former Wyoming County Sheriff's deputy who shot and killed another man in Perry apologized at his sentencing on Wednesday. Joseph Mlyniec was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison. Mlyniec spoke in court and apologized to the family of Robert Irvine III. Mlyniec shot and killed Irvine at his home in March. Investigators believe he was trying to silence Irvine from making sexual abuse allegations. Mylniec retired from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office after more than 20 years in 2008. He served as a part-time deputy from 2009-2013. "Robert was a friend of mine for over 10 years, and I'll have to live with that burden, and I realize that," said Mlyniec.
