An athletic trainer in the Geneseo School District is facing several sexual assault charges, including rape. Austin J. Pratt, 30, is charged with third-degree rape and third-degree criminal sex act, which are both felonies. He has also been charged with misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child. Pratt worked for UR Medicine Thompson Health as an athletic trainer beginning in 2015, according to a spokesperson UR Medicine Thompson Health. He primarily worked at F.F. Thompson's Rehabiltation Services center. He was also contracted out as an athletic trainer to the Geneseo Central School District. New York State Police say that Pratt had a sexual encounter with a child younger than 17 in Geneseo on Dec. 31, 2018. Pratt was fired from UR Medicine Thompson Health upon his arrest. Geneseo Superintendent Tim Hayes said "The school district is fully cooperating with the New York State Police investigation. Any parent with a concern should contact the district. The safety and security of our students is of utmost importance and all reports of any kind are treated seriously." Pratt is being held in the Livingston County Jail. An order of protection was issued to the alleged victim. State Police say that they are continuing to investigate and ask anyone with information to call (585) 398-4100.
