A child was struck by a car while boarding a school bus in Rush on Tuesday morning. Investigators say the bus stopped on East River Road to pick up the child and did have stop lights activated when a vehicle unable to stop in time. The driver of the vehicle could not swerve left due to oncoming traffic and swerved to the right of the bus striking the child. The driver was ticketed for speed and passing a stopped school bus. The child is being treated at Strong Hospital for hip and elbow injuries.
