Bills Add Ex-Rugby Star Christian Wade

The Buffalo Bills announced the today of a unique running back prospect. They were allocated former Rugby star Christian Wade through the NFL's International Player Pathway Program.

Wade is listed as 5 foot 8, 190 pounds and is 27 years old. Despite his small stature, he has certainly shown toughness as a rugby player as a professional including time spent representing the English National Team.

He may be a long shot to make the Bill's regular season roster but they do have an option to retain him if he wants to keep working on his game.

According to the Bills website: "The Bills and the other three AFC East clubs each get a roster exemption from the NFL, allowing them to carry 91 players on their roster instead of the typical 90-player offseason roster.

At the conclusion of training camp, players will be eligible for an international player practice squad exemption with teams being given an exemption for an eleventh practice squad member – ineligible to be activated during the season. "
