Benjamin Santiago is under arrest after quite a crime spree in Batavia Sunday night.
Batavia Police say he showed up to a home on Ellicott Street around 9:15 p.m. and demanded money from the resident Mark Collier. Collier, who is 35-years-old, had previously given charitable donations to Santiago in the past, but after Collier told him no this time Santiago hit Collier several times with a blunt instrument, stole items from the house and fled.
Collier was taken to Strong Hospital and is listed in stable condition but with serious injuries.
Batavia PD says that after Santiago left Ellicott Street he stole a bicycle, and then a car. The stolen vehicle has been recovered and Santiago was arrested by Rochester Police in the City of Rochester.
Santiago is charged with 1st Degree Assault and 1st Degree Robbery, both Class B felonies.
