The Ontario County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a man was found dead on Route 96 in Phelps Tuesday night. A passing driver noticed the body on the shoulder of the road around 10:30 p.m. Investigators are calling the death "suspicious." The victim is believed to be in his 20s or 30s, but did not have ID. Deputies do not believe the victim was hit by a car.
