Governor Cuomo Wants You To Pick A New License Plate

Because the state needs more money, Governor Cuomo announced a new license plate design contest.

What this means for us is beginning in April when you renew your registration, drivers with plates 10 years or older will have to pay $25 for the new plates plus a $20 fee if you want to keep your old plate number.

From the state website:

The design with the most votes will become the State's official license plate and will be available to customers beginning April 2020. The new plates will replace the aging Empire Blue & White plates, most of which are more than 10 years old.

You must be a New York State resident to vote and you may only vote once.

Voting closes on Monday, September 2nd, at 11:59 P.M.

The internet had another suggestion for what the new plate should be.
