One person is dead after an explosion leveled a house on Rochester's east side. Investigators say RG&E responded to the smell of gas outside the houseon Illinois Street around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. A utility crew says it noticed a man inside, but he refused to come out. The house exploded soon after. Rochester Fire Chief Willie Jackson says the man's body was found beneath debris in the basement. Firefighters are searching for a dog they believe was also in the house. The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
