Brockport Teacher Killed in Bicycle Accident

A Brockport Central School District teacher died after she was struck while riding her bicycle. It happened Saturday on Sweden Walker Road (Rt. 260) just south of Rt. 18 at around 12:30 p.m. Investigators say second-grade teacher Carolyn Ray, 46 was struck by a pickup truck. Ray was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital where she later died.The driver of the pickup was uninjured. Police say drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor.

Statement from the district:

The Brockport Central School District is saddened to learn that Carolyn (Carrie) Ray, a second-grade teacher at Barclay Elementary School, has died due to injuries she sustained from a bicycle accident Saturday morning. Carrie was a teacher with the district for almost 15 years and will be deeply missed. Resources and counselors will be available to provide emotional support for both students and staff.
