Gates Police announced the arrest of 42-year-old Levar Merritt after an incident in the Wegman's Plaza in Gates.
Police were called to the Taco Bell parking lot for the report of a fight and once on scene found a 39-year-old man with serious stab wounds to the neck and leg. Merritt surrendered to police on scene.
The investigation revealed this all started as a road rage incident. Merritt pulled a box cutter and stabbed the man multiple times in the neck and leg. The victim is at Strong in Guarded Condition.
Meritt is charged with 2nd degree Attempted Murder, 3rd degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon and 1st Degree Assault.
The kicker on all this is that Merritt is awaiting trial for another road rage incident at the same Gates Wegman's store. He was arrested on June 20 after pulling a knife and threatened to kill 2 individuals. He was charged with 2nd degree menacing but released on no bail.
