As is usually the case, dozens of parents captured a recent elementary school nativity play on video. But when they re-watch it in coming years, you can be sure they won't be focused on their own little budding star; instead, they'll be watching the little girl who spent 20 minutes onstage flipping off the audience with both of her middle fingers. Ella Bovingdon, who's just 5 years old, has become a viral sensation because of the seemingly rebellious gesture, which she carries out while dressed as a Christmas angel. Although her horrified mother, Carla, spent the entire play gesturing and mouthing her disapproval to her daughter, the little angel kept it up, waving her middle fingers at the snickering audience. It turned out Ella had hurt one of her fingers before taking the stage, and, as children tend to do, decided it was important to make sure her mom knew about her injury -- despite being part of a school play. "She likes to let me know if she’s at all injured, so she was basically trying to show me what she had done from across the room," Carla Bovington says. "It was the tiniest little hangnail as well. Then she put both her fingers up because she was trying to compare to see if both fingers were hurt."
